Estrogen and progesterone receptor expression in macrophages and regulation of hepatocyte growth factor by ovarian steroids in women with endometriosis
Ovarian steroids, particularly estrogen, increase hepatocyte growth factor production by macrophages from women with endometriosis, potentially promoting endometriosis growth via autocrine signaling and cell proliferation.
