Cellular Changes Consistent With Epithelial–Mesenchymal Transition and Fibroblast-to-Myofibroblast Transdifferentiation in the Progression of Experimental Endometriosis in Baboons
In baboons with experimental endometriosis, progressive lesion development showed increased TGF-β1/Smad3 signaling, epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition, fibroblast-to-myofibroblast transdifferentiation, smooth muscle metaplasia, and fibrosis, driven by platelets.
