Abstract

SummaryFollowing laparoscopy, 31 patients with minimal or mild endometriosis (revised American Fertility Society classification, 1985) were followed up for 12 months. No treatment was given. The cumulative conception rates were calculated using the life-table method of analysis. For controls, 61 patients who had stopped oral contraception because they were desirous of a further pregnancy were used. The cumulative conception rates at 6 months and 12 months were reduced (P<0001) in the patients with endometriosis. These results show that women with minimal or mild endometriosis have reduced fecundity. The possible reasons are discussed.
