According to statistics, the incidence of endometriosis varies from 12 to 50 % among women of reproductive age. In the structure of gynecological diseases, endometriosis ranks third after inflammatory diseases of the female genital area and uterine fibroids. For the diagnosis of endometriosis, the gold standard is laparoscopic examination followed by histological confirmation after biopsy. At the moment, the approach to diagnosing endometriosis is being revised, and the search for non-invasive markers for earlier diagnosis of this disease is important. Treatment of endometriosis is aimed at reducing the associated symptoms and includes the use of pharmacological therapy with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, progestins, oral contraceptives and gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonists, as well as surgical removal of endometrial implants and affected tissue. The etiology of this disease has not yet been fully elucidated, which stimulates clinicians to further research in search of a solution to this problem. Text article:
