Oxytocin Rezeptor (OTR) und Vasopressin Rezeptor (VPR) Expression in Adenomyosis uteri
This study analyzed oxytocin and vasopressin receptor expression in adenomyosis uteri using immunohistochemistry on 40 affected and 20 control uteri to investigate receptors linked to dysmenorrhea mechanisms.

This study investigated the expression of oxytocin and vasopressin receptors in uterine tissue from premenopausal women with histologically confirmed adenomyosis or uterine fibroids. Immunohistochemical analysis revealed that while vasopressin receptors were absent in lesion epithelial and stromal cells, oxytocin receptors showed mild to strong expression in these areas and were particularly intense in the compact myometrium adjacent to the lesions. The findings indicate that oxytocin receptor-mediated mechanisms may contribute to the pathogenesis of dysmenorrhea by influencing prostaglandin synthesis and inducing hyperperistalsis through myometrial contraction. This paper is centrally about adenomyosis — specifically examining the role of oxytocin receptor expression in the pathophysiology of associated pain symptoms.
