Abstract

Hemorrhagic ascites represents an unusual presentation of endometriosis and has been described in only 63 women since 1954. Treatment options for patients suffering from infertility associated with hemorrhagic ascites may be limited, as the use of fertility medications has been demonstrated to exacerbate ascites. We report successful treatment with term delivery of a healthy infant in a 29-year-old nulligravid patient with laparoscopically confirmed endometriosis-associated hemorrhagic ascites using natural cycle in vitro fertilization (NCIVF). NCIVF may be successfully utilized in treating patients diagnosed with unusual fertility problems, such as endometriosis-associated hemorrhagic ascites, in which the use of gonadotropins may be contraindicated.
