Cytological and histological studies on a case of ovarian adenosarcoma.

This case report describes a 46-year-old woman diagnosed with ovarian adenosarcoma, a rare malignancy initially misidentified as endometriosis due to histological similarities. The patient underwent cytological and histological examinations that revealed benign-appearing epithelial glands mixed with cellular, atypical stroma lacking significant mitotic activity in the primary tumor. Although initial resection was incomplete, subsequent removal of the uterus and adnexa confirmed the diagnosis, though the patient experienced pelvic recurrence three years later with increased mitotic figures in the stromal cells.
